HARDWORK WAS PAID OFF FOR VIKTORIA KOMOVA!

Gymnastics Youth Olympic Games Women's Preliminaries is being held from 16-25 August 2010 at Bishan Sports Hall.. Many gymnasts were getting ready for the competition as they warmed up thoroughly. One of the gymnasts was Viktoria Komova from Russia, whom proudly came in first for the overall.

Komova focused on the match the entire time and her hardwork through all her training was paid off. Even though she had to perform in front of millions, she did not foget to smile for us during the floor exercise. Her performance brought the spectators to awe as she graced her way through. After her performance was over, the spectators were left dumbfounded and started clapping loudly for her as she did a great and graceful performance. by the look of her smile after that, she certainly achieved her goal of getting a loud cheering from the spectators.

Her movements on the uneven bars were skilled as she moved from one bar to another without a single flaw. When she finally landed on the floor mat, she landed effortlessly before she went off to allow the next gymnast to take the stage. She proudly went off knowing she did a marvelous job when she had everyone's attention on her.

As she finished a round, she started mentally preparing herself for the next round. As she reached the floor exercise, therwe was time given for a last minute try and she used the time to practise her somersaults. Her time arrived when she was next to go to perform and she performed without difficulty as she leaped from one corner to another corner and blowing the spectators away.

Even though she did not come out first in the beam round, she worked harder for the rest of the rounds. Overall, she came out first with 15.700 on the vault, 15.600 on the uneven bars, 15.150 on the beam, 14.550 on the loor exercise and coming out with a total of 61.000.

Gymnastics is an activity and sport involving performance of exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, agility, co-ordination, balance, and grace. It involves the women's events of uneven parallel bars, balance beams, floor exercise and vaults. Men's events include floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars and high bars.
Gymnastics evolved from exercises used by the ancient Greeks, that included skills for mounting and dismounting a horse, and from circus performance skills.

All the stalls were packed with people and the sec 2s were busy doing their respective things making sure that their schoolmates were enjoying themselves. i was curious to know how our fellow schoolmates felt about the bazaar so i decided to interview one of them, Noelle from 1E1.

Yes, i like some of the songs except for justin bieber's. the songs were very entertaining and they kept the charity bazaar lively.

Did you get a good look at all the stalls?

No, i did not as the place was so crowded and everyone was croowding in front of the stalls.

Did you buy anything?

No i did not as i did not have enough money at that time.

After you see the sec 2s selling thing to help the children's charity foundation, do you want to be able to sell anything?

Yes

What do you wish to sell?

I wish to sell food like jelly and cookies and some drinks.

Were you surprised to see what the sec 2s have prepared?

Yes, because some stalls sold bubbletea and another stall had some of the students wearing power ranger masks.

Was the charity bazaar what you had expected?

Yes it was as i expected it to be very crowded and all the students at the stall shouting for people to come.

Racial Harmony Day 2010

Upon reaching school, there were lots of our schoolmates wearing traditional costumes. Racial Harmony Day is what made us come together as one after Singapore had gone through the Racial Riots in 1964 due to misunderstandings. Different races had come together and speak a common language, which is English, to converse with each other without causing misunderstandings and inflicting pain to each other through what we speak. I was curious to know what our schoolmates think about Racial Harmony Day and decided to ask one of the students, Siti Najiha from 2E2.

What do you think about Racial Harmony Day this year?

It is meaningful and helps to teach different races to get along with each other.

What do you think about the Racial Harmony Day carnival that was held at the atrium?

It was entertaining as there were a lot of people dancing and there was nice music.

What do you think about the performance?

There were nice performances that were organized to humor us on this Racial Harmony Day and there were a lot of different students of different races performing together and having loads of fun.

What do you think about the costumes that our schoolmates wore today?

The costumes were very eye-catching and I realized there were different kinds of costumes that other races wear.

Did you wear any costumes today?

No I did not.

Why?

I could not find any costumes to wear and nobody's costumes were my size.

What costume do you want to wear if you had a chance?

I want to wear a Chinese costume as it is has very nice designs on it.

What do you not like about the performance?

I noticed that there were not enough space for dancers to move around and it was also very crammed as there were many students surrounding the area to view the performance.

What do you think can be improved about the performance?

I would like the space to be wider or the venue of the performance to be somewhere more spacious and the duration of our break to be longer just for that day to see all the performance that was done by our schoolmates.

What do you think about this morning's PPE?

The girl from 1E4 said meaningful things and the ways to maintain peace was useful for us.

Lastly, what do you wish to see for next year's Racial Harmony Day?

I want more fun and games to be held for us to enjoy.
